Hey guys,

I'm going to be building a new computer soon but my plans changed when I found out I could get the following processor for free :cool:

Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core QX9750

Specifications:
* Quad-core
* 45nm
* 3.16Ghz
* 1333Mhz FSB
* 12MB L2 Cache
* Socket-775

I'll be spending a fair amount of money just to build the computer, so I want to be sure this is a good processor to build around. I would like to know how this processor stacks up against what's out there today.

Many Thanks!

Barney and Zero, thank you so much for informative resposnses:)

Based on your responses this is clearly a sweet deal since the CPU is free. But by todays standards is this a pretty good processor? I know it's not the fastest, but how does it stack up?

Thanks Again!

Yeah its an excellent cpu, one of the best core 2 quads. What kinda budget you looking at for the rest of the system?

Thanks for the response bomber :)

I'll probably spend between 1,000 to 1,500 on the rest of the computer. Do you have any recommedations for the motherboard, ram, and powersupply? If the CPU is that good I want to give a good supoprting cast.

Thanks!
