Hello,

I'm looking for a good PoE switch and I'm not to familiar with those kind of devices.

I found two in which I'm interested but can someone advice which brand is better or specification ?

http://www.netgear.com/business//products/switches/prosafe-plus-switches/GS108PE.aspx#one

http://trendnet.com/products/proddetail.asp?status=view&prod=175_TPE-TG44g&cat=60

Both of them cost around 130$, both support 10/100/1000Mbps
Netgar has 45W for PoE
TrendNet has 60W for PoE

Are they any other important parameters on which I should look ?

I need a switch for Logitech security cameras - 3 of them, maybe later 4. Each camera takes up to 7W max load.

Also I was wondering can I use a PoE switch to power Lacie Cloudbox 2TB HDD (model: 9000343)

I will be grateful for any help. Thank You

Just an FYI, I believe those PoE switches are actually limited to 100Mbps when they are being used for PoE as well.

WRX is correct. PoE will be 100 Mbps. Only 4 - 8 on the both switchs are PoE. I have purchased a similar Switch which is a ZyXEL ES1100-8P. The switch powers the 4 security IP cameras around the building. I have run into no problems and is rack mountable or wall mountable.

If you only want one of those two id take an educated guess the netgear switch is better , but that is just an opinion.

ps. Does the switch need to be managed?

Matt

The switch doesn't have to be managed. I believe it is not necessary for security cameras.

I'm just looking for a reasonable quality and brand... it is my first PoE switch and I never had needs to be interested in one in the past, that's why I don't have to much knowledge about them.

I'm running Gigabit router and I just don't want that the switch will be my weak spot or maybe I should not worry about gigabit switch and just go with ZyXEL ES1100-8P ?
