well yea on my laptop i tried to update some stuff like a idiot i am and then i went to the hp or Microsoft website for updates for me specific laptops so i click on 3 links downloaded it..it was fine but u know that warning window that pops up if you didnt install right well i ignored that and clicked i installed right(being the genius i am)..... next thing you know NO SOUND when i click on that sound thing on the bottom right side IT SAYS NO PROGRAM OR SOMETHING and i got updates for my nevida(mispelled) graphic card and finger scanner thing... NEXT THING YOU KNOW I RESTART the lap top to see if i would work .... NO finger scanner thing detected and i again being a genius lol I can't log on since I frogot the password to my acc but I don't need help need help on that what I need help on is how do I fix the missing programs lol

i just got the sound and graphic card good i think but it still can not find my finger print reader which is on the laptop itself

Meandyou in the future DO NOT install the newest updates if you don't need them.Updating everything is just stupid and in many cases you will end up with these kind of problems or even UNBOOTABLE Windows lol.Update ONLY THOSE THINGS that needs to be updated.For example:

Update the graphic card driver ONLY if the new game requires it,otherwise DON'T!



Oh and you are NOT stupid.Stop saying that lol.Everybody makes mistakes ;)

Then just uninstall all the drivers if you can and install the old ones that worked.

I never really understood why people update their systems like crazy when there is really no need for that...I guess that's the only thing they know to do on computers lol xD

But it's a good idea to keep your OS and other software up to date - especially if you're not behind a router or other firewall, since people can scan for and then exploit vulnerabilities on your system. And browsers, especially if you frequent websites that may attempt to exploit your browser.

But I never update hardware drivers unless I'm experiencing problems with the original driver - just asking for trouble if you ask me.
 
Kk let me tell you my problem again so were all on the same page I have a finger print scanner thing it says it there's no finger print scanner pluged it WTF do I uninstall the driver then reinstall it ?? If so how
 
Unplug the hardware, then go to Start-->Control Panel-->System-->Hardware tab-->Device Manager, and look for any yellow "!" or red "x" and right click those objects, and select uninstall. Reboot. Then, run the CD first that came with your finger scanner (before you plug it in). If it didn't come with a CD, check the manufacturer's website for the appropriate driver software, or post here with the make and model of the finger scanner and we'll direct you to the appropriate download.

Good idea,but what if he has a laptop lol xD?He will lose 2 days to open all those small items just to unplug the fingerprint hardware xD.And he wrote that he HAS a laptop......looooool xD

yea im confused now i do have a laptop its a HP HDX Premium Series 18
the scanner is in the laptop

O.o and my screen settings keep changing size??
