just overclocked to 2600 mhz on a core 2 duo 6400 and it is showing me a celcius temp of 57 ' on tat. Is this really bad ? It runs fine but thats like 120' farenheight? did i do something wrong?

That's not horrible, but certainly not good. Are you using the stock cooler? If so, I owuld recommend getting a good aftermarket cooler.

yea its a stock cooler ... everything in the case is brand new and there is no dust ... should i put my bios settings back to default? cause i just never turn it off....

No, 57 isn't high enough to really be alarmed. I'd look into getting a good cooler if you're OCing any more though.

Either of these would be better than both above:

For ~ $45: Thermaltake Big Typhoon. Cools your processor, as well as your Northbridge and Mosfets, both prone to get quite hot when overclocking, especially with Core 2 Duos.

For ~$30: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Great value cooler.

The main problem with the Zalman CNPS9500 is that while it cools the processor, it doesn't cool the memory very much. When I installed my 9500, my RAM temperatures went up significantly.

for some reason i couldn't find the freezer

But I would still argue for the 9500. My temps went from 40C idle to 24C idle. And the memory is still plenty cool enough.

While it dropped my processor temps from 82C load to 65C load, my memory went up 10C to 45C. The Thermaltake Big Typhoon consistently beats it in tests as well.
