Image comparison > 5MP to 7MP

I was doing a little camera research for someone and thought you guys should see this... I havn't looked in the Digital Camera 101 dealy, but someone probably should post it there...

Here's a picture taken from Steve's Digicams. The cuts on the left are taken with one camera, cuts on the right are taken with another. Any clue which of them is the 5MP and which is the 7MP?

It's hard to say, because theres more to image quality than the megapixels. For that size photo, if it was the exact same camera except one shot was done at 7mp, and the other at 2mp, you wouldnt notice the difference.
 
Omega - You are correct... I should of specified that I shunk the 7MP images down which actually gave it the upper hand, where the 5MP images are 100% crops. However, Bootup was wrong :P To the left is a Nikon 7MP camera, the right is my Panasonic FZ20.
 
It's almost like those old shampoo commercials (I can't remember the brand) - "If you can't tell, why should we?"
 
like omega said, at that size. . . . Regardless, whatever you are trying to accomplish here it couldn't be valid. you'd have a better test if you had better control over the setup and execution. same subject, same angle, same same settings, same setup (distance, tripod, . . .), moments apart. . . . otherwise I just don't think any comparison would be accurate or fair.

Did you get your name from king crimson? Because that would rock, those guys are cooler than the moody blues and pink put together.
