ImageShack and CF attachments

Last night when I logged into Imageshack, I noticed the page presentation had changed with a new look. There was an announcement of "Try it" for 30 days. After this 30 day trial, a paid subscription is now needed to continue using the account.

Due to this, I am presently deleting all my 300+ images, and my ImageShack account will be deleted when I'm finished.

I apologize if my old forum posts now seem pointless without their relevant image files attached. It is impossible for me to go back and check thousands of posts for each appropriate image to be re-hosted on a new free image site. If I can remember which image went to a certain few posts, I'll host it elsewhere and fix the link. Otherwise, I won't, and I'm sorry.

Just logged into ImageShack and seen the same thing. Luckily I've only uploaded a few images to ImageShack, but it looks like it's 'back to Photobucket' for me! :D

I didn't realize it said 30 day trial. I'm gonna double check and do what I need to do.

EDIT: It's only $1 a month.

I would gladly pay $1 a month IF it was the only image sharing service out there. It isn't. I will be switching to another service which sucks because I liked how Imageshack had the resizing.

I'm indecisive if I want to pay for it. I already deleted any personal pictures. Unpersonal ones were left intact for anything I've linked in the past.

I haven't used photobucket in a long time. Does that have a resize tool with it? Otherwise I may just go with Tinypic.

WHAT?!?!?!
ImagesHack is not free anymore?!?!?!

THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I always loved ImagesHack and used it for years!
Damn you ImagesHack team! :mad::mad::mad::gun:

Right now as I am writing this it is raining outside AS HELL...it's going to be a sad night...:(

Hmmm.. I havent used anything but ImageShack for the past decade or so so I dont even know of any other hosting sites.

If its $1/month Id say it might be worth it. Whats $12/ year right? I guess their adverts are not paying them enough anymore, or they have just become overly greedy like everything else in the world. Nothing is free anymore. Wonder when the day will come when Computer Forum starts a monthly fee ;)

There's always Tinypic. I may move in that direction.

Why pay for it when there are other free services available? Photobucket is fine if you're just sharing screenshots and stuff which isn't your best 'work of art' - so all the screenshots and stuff I post are hosted on Photobucket.

Use Flickr or something like 500px to host and share your photos and all that kind of stuff, which I know you already do. That's what I do. :)

I am a 'tight git' really, aren't I? ;) As I mentioned in Punk's thread about image hosting sites, I like Flickr because you get a free terabyte. :D

I have a feeling that other free image hosting services will not be free for much longer...

I don't know...
I just have that feeling...

:(

Hahaha this reminds me on something I read about Windows XP few days ago.It goes something like this:

"I have a feeling that Microsoft will force users to buy their newest operating systems and disable them from using XP by doing something so damn bad that the only way you will be able to use XP is to not be connected to the internet."

You can still run Windows 98 and 2000 if you really wanted to. They're not gonna disable it

We can only hope that they do remain free. Most of them have free and paid services at the moment, so they'll keep both of their services I hope.

Probably some website will start to make their premium account necessary, kinda like Deezer did.

I think you go on biased websites. XP will be stopped soon but every user will able to run it. I'm supposed to be the Conspiracy theorist, not you haha :D

Hey guys, I am ImageShack's CEO. Just wanted to say few words on the subject discussed. We have offered _free_ uploading and image hosting to the world for 10 years, from 2004 to 2014.

After long deliberation, we decided that in order for us to run viable business we must increase quality, speed, add new features, listen to our users, make photo storage safe (e.g. not lose images), which meant ultimately removing ads from our site. That being the case, left only one option: revenue must be derived from subscriptions. We understand that some people simply would not be willing to pay, and will leave ImageShack, however there was simply no other choice. Either we degrade quality of the service for All users by forcing more ads on you - that ultimately something we decided not to do.

Now I know I know, there there are plenty of free image hosts out there, like photobucket, imgur, flickr etc... They all have ads, track your data, sell it to the highest bidder. For them you are the product. This is no longer the case for ImageShack.

The fact of the matter is that concentrating on smaller number of paying users allows us to deliver better quality and experience, while actually making our business more viable, so that is what we decided to do in 2014.

We never asked anything form our users, but this year, we are sending a message “Help us survive!” a couple of bucks per month is all we need to continue to support you, make beautiful galleries (like this one https://imageshack.com/user/fishkov), run unlimited storage with unlimited bandwidth.

There you have it, I will respond to your comments on this thread, and flames via PM. ;)

-Magnito
