Impressions on facebook

I have deactivated my facebook account and am now without a profile. What are your impressions on facebook? I deactivated my account because I was spending way to much time on it and all the legal garbage sorround the social network.

It's a great way to find old friends and school mates. I have found people that I went to grade school with over 27 years ago. I don't get involved with the games or anything, just stay in touch with friends.

like wise but I feel like it's great fro reconnecting with old friends but I tell myself there is a reason why we didn't stay in touch probably because we weren't that close to begin with.

Oh no no no.... You would be surprised how many people reconnect on facebook.. A lot of people end up moving away after so many years. I had to move away from all my old classmates and make new friends at a new high school. We were all a small family in grade school since it was a very small town. I only wish one day I can find more classmates on FB.

I also changed HS but since I haven't really kept in contact with anyone via e-mail or otherwise. I had them as friends on FB but we never talk to one an other. :(

I deactivated my FB account in October and I don't miss it one bit. My friends find it weird that I don't have an account, but I spent a lot of time on there and didn't really talk to anyone and the people that I did talk to I either see most days or they have my phone number / email address, so I don't see the point in having FB as well... then there are the legal issues lol.

As part of my uni degree I am doing a module in "Computing Law and Professional Responsibility" and last week we basically had a lecture on how bad Facebook's privacy settings etc... are.

I read this on the web some time last year :P
Not being an FB type nor a Twunter I'm a bit more old fashioned and use blog now and then. I do get the whole Twunter thing but be damned if I'm gonna register on FB and have all those kiddies I used to beat up and steal from come and ask for their money back. Nor do I want angry old teachers seeking revenge and sending me pics of my hospitalised targets, blown up lavatories and lab bongs. And no, I don't want to face court proceedings from the high school canteen. So to Facebook I say "Pah!"

I think facebook is a great social networking site if used the right way, as stated above dont bother getting involved with the pointless games cause they are crap and will have you waste hours on it.

Also as mentioned above alot of people, companies and sneaky employers have turned it into a means of gathering info on you and use it to judge who you are.

Best way to use it is dont be a random adder, just add the people you actually know or have known be weary of adding anyone from work, or strangers who could be anyone using a fake profile to spy on you, employers, companies etc

Make your profile secure, keep it private that only your friends can view even the simplest info about you and even for the people you have added take the time to set what they can and cannot see.

It is however a great way for you to upload your pictures etc, so you can keep distant relatives, friends etc up to date.

yeah looks ok fxb, but with the sheer size of facebook and that nearly everyone has it, think most people would find it easier and accesible

I deactivated my account 3 weeks before an exam... 1 week in, I'm managing better than I thought I would because I would log on every hour or so and do absolutely nothing because of sheer boredom or if I was having trouble completing studies or homework.

After deactivating I am getting a whole lot more work done, it's amazing.

That's good to hear I was doing the same thing are you still not on facebook? I reactivated my account last night because my friends don't communicate by email. I will try my best to tone done on my FB usage.
