IMs-->Trillian

I loaded Yahoo IM a long time ago, I forgot why but I trashed it. Now, a few comps laters, I downloaded it again... it was awful! Everytime the net disconnected(often) it wigged out. It would have an error and close or restart the computer, if not freezing it first. So I trashed it, again. I try to download Trillian(before seeing this thread) and after 3 hours of the closest I got to a compelte download was 80% I stopped. The next day I tryed and it kept completing at 3-10% (possibly once a 13 or 15). I e-mailed trillian and download.com support. I only got a reply from cNet but it didn't help at all.

I almost live on the net(not including net disconnects), I probably need an IM.

Neither Cnet nor Trillian is the problem. I use trillian daily.

Spybot and Avast!?
Also Norton...

I think it's the net. Is there a way to download Trillian to CD and burn it?

Try getting rid of Norton, the 2 anti-virus could be conflicting with each other, and burning to a CD wouldn't help as you would still be installing the same file.

Also, temporarily try it with firewall disabled, if that doesn't work turn off ant-virus, but make sure that you turn them back on immediately after.

>Two AV?

>I ment on another computer, like libary or friend's, burn to disk and use on this computer.

>I've tried without Norton. (In the three hours the computer crashed a few times so I had turned almost everything off. I'll try no anti virus later... when no one is using the computer for anything else.

av= anti-virus

as for using a freinds computer, that would work.

It's somewhat hard to understand some of your sentences, but 3 hours? Are you on dial up? Or did you mean that you waited for about 3 hours and it was stuck at 80%? Trillian is ~8mb or so only.

*glomps lee* IT WORKED! IT LOADED!!

The three hours was mostly sitting near the computer watching the net and download windows. When the net kicked off I would reconnect.

I THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE!

Well, now I'm having trouble with Trillian. It seems that it's not dial-up friendly. Almost everytime my net disconnects this computer temperarily freezes longer than normal before letting me reconnect. Then, every and any part of Trillian is frozen untill it reconnects, meaning I can't tell it the net is working again, and if I'm too persistant the whole computer freezes or (if I'm lucky) crashes. If I control+alternate+delete and close Trillian I can't reopen it without restarting the computer and sometimes closeing it that way ****s up the computer until I restart it(which I would have to). It's getting worse so that now sometimes the whole computer will freeze if the net kicked off, which occasionally happened before, but something about the way it freezes mkes me think it's because of Trillian now.
