in-depth answer to upgrading ram

I have been searching on the web for a few days now and cannot seem to come across a good enough answer. My question is that I require to know if I should upgrade to 8gb or go to 12gb. My machine has the following specification:

Motherboard - asus p7h55-m
cpu - i3 3.07ghz
memory - 4 gb corsair xms 3ddr 1333mhz
HDD - WDC WD5000AAKS

Apparently 4gb to 8gb is not going to give me much benefit, but what do you guys think?
 
The important information you didn't tell us is what you're doing with your system to warrant the upgrade.
 
My first question is, what operating system are you running? Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

Second is the same as Voyagerfan's, what do you do with your computer that warrants a RAM upgrade?
 
Sorry guys I haven't provided the important info. I do alot of multi tasking, many internet pages open, you tube, other applications etc.
I am using win 7 ultimate.
I just upgraded a few days ago. Before this I was using win xp 32 bit and it was fast. So there you have it. Please advise me.
