Hi,
I currently have a Geforce MX 420 graphics card, which horrible so to say. So I have a 200 dollar budget to purchase a new graphics card. What is my best deal for a..

Dell Dimension 4500
256 ram (will be adding 1 gig around christmas)
Pentium 4
Microsoft Windows Home edition
Intel 2.4 ghz mobo

What is my best bet? and is it even worth getting a new card for this pc?

Thanks,
JTM

And oh yeah, how do I know if my pc is pci or pci e..? Thanks again.

Open the computer up, and take a look, chances are its AGP. As for the graphics card, i'd just get the x850xt(pe), it's about 130 ish and will do great in your system, there's no need to get a $200 card.

umm dude, my 240 has 3 PCI's and 1 AGP..

and yes, the X850XT is the best out, thats AGP....

i guess your gonna be heavy gaming?

I'll open up my pc tomorrow and see if I have PCI or AGP. I just put in a dvd drive, and I think it's PCI, but i'm not sure. What do you suggest for ram. It has pc2700 right now, what can I get in terms of ram?

like you said earlyier your getting 1 gig around christmas, just make sure it's pc2700...

your deffinately gonna have PCI slots, and im sure ur gonna have 1 AGP slot..

he's thinking pci-e.

i noticed it will only support a 4x card. would a x850xt perform better than a top end 4x card? if so, money could be saved, like for memory or more hd space.

even at 4x? sorry, i really don't know how it works. i figured the 4x would limit a x850 xt, but allow a top end 4x card to run full blast. it wouls STILL be better?
