and i know how bad the intel stock coolers are, ive owned many of them but not sure on what to get for a new one. ideas??

Bad intel stock coolers...unless they stop working never encountered one to be bad.
If you are talking overclocked CPU what do you expect....

If you're overclocking, I would recommend an aftermarket one. What case do you have?

pretty much all factory supplied coolers are AOK at stock speeds, but if you intend to OC, get an aftermarket one, tho price is the question at that point.

I ended up just sticking with the stock intercooler for now. i decided to wait to OC it

You can't go wrong with a Noctua CPU cooler. I personally use it on my OC'd e8400 which hits 4.2ghz on 1.312v and temps are very low.
