Increaseing FSB

Technique 2 - Raising the Core Clock
This is the probably the most common method for OCing since AMD and Intel have implemented locks on their processors. The good thing about this approach is that you have a lot more control over your OCs i.e., for each MHz you OC the FSB/HTT, you only OC by the amount that is your multiplier which becomes useful as you try and get a feel for your maximum clock. The down side is that you also increase the operation speed of the memory and if you dont have AGP/PCI locks, the speed of the AGP/PCI bus. Not all memory and/or cards can handle the increase in speed so thats why people run into problems.

So if i overclock by increasing FSB the only other thing thats effected is my RAM?

My RAM is PC3200 but right now it is runing at PC2700 and i can't seems o find faster clock. My mobo suports upto PC3200, very strange.

So should I worry about the RAM as long as it does not pass PC3200 when increasing the FSB? Can i Disable the AGP/PCI lock then? or is it better to just leave it on? how do i know it is even on?

thanks

The RAM wont be a limit until it passes 200MHz (400 DDR), after it does pass it you will have to test if it is holing you back (ie increasing voltage) or if ti's something else.

Thanks cromewell.

I think i found the answer to why my DDR3200 is running at 2700. It is because of the CPU. Pentium D 805 only have 533FSB and in order for the DDR to run at 3200 the fsb has to be 800

If your overclocking leave the PCI/AGP lock on, if you disable it when you raise the FSB it will raise your AGP and PCI bus too. Not sure where its at on that boards Bios but it might be in the Advanced Chipset Features. But some dont have a lock!

I was in the advanced chipset features and i do see the FSB but I can't seems to select it. Any idea how i can? Will it help if I provide the Bios version? How can i get it?

thanks

Dont know, some boards have a separate FSB setting- Auto/Manual. You have to set it to manual, then the FSB settings will be ungrayed

Fsb Clocking Question

ok, I overclock my pentium 4 FSB now it reads the speed @3688mhz what is actual speed now?
