Increasing file size

Hello,

I am posting this here as I see it as a potential security issue.

I have noticed that over the last couple of months or so my file size has increased dramatically. It went from around 73,000 files to over 390,000 files. I am just now starting to log the file size daily to see how often this is happening. I noticed it by viewing the file size of my Norton scans. I have not noticed anything wrong or strange happening with the computer, but am concerned that this may be a problem. I have put some digital pictures on the computer, but this seems extreme to me.

Should I be concerned?

Information Update

I had some file size numbers wrong in the above post.

The post should have read 730,000 files in the beginning and 3,930,257 files as of last night.

Today the file size has increased to 4,018,850--an increase of 88,593 file over night with me adding nothing to the system.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are the files dramatically lowering the amount of available free space? If not, I wouldn't worry too much.

Remember, every time you visit a website, it loads tons of temporary files onto your computer, so it is going to increase every day, but it shouldn't be a huge increase.

I have run several spyware removal programs with no change in the daily file increase. I also remove all temp files daily.

I will have to check on the free space availability to determine if this is a problem.
