Increasing Multiplier

cant go above a multiplier of 10x? it was set on 10x and it wont go higher than that? is there a reason for this or do i need to unlock something to make it go higher.

yep, they lock all the UPWARD multipliers except for on FX chips...
i believe intel does this too, but i dont have much o/cing experience with their chips.

Yea, I have an 3200+ and the multiplier is upward locked at 10x. To overclock just up the FSB in your BIOS. I'm running my 2.0Ghz 3200+ at around 2.26GHz right now pretty safely and effectively. I use Everest to monitor temps and use SuperPi for benchmarks....although there are better benchmarks than superpi.

Intel didnt use to have locked multipliers, however they decided to lock them when people where just raising them, instead of upgrading to a higher model.

As of now, the FX series is the only chip with where you can raise the multiplier.

@Jakesteads
if you didn't know this already then you haven't done enough research

To overclock just up the FSB in your BIOS
that would be a neat trick on a 3200 board

although there are better benchmarks than superpi.
especially given that for the most part the amd will be for gaming, why not use real world gaming benchmarks ?

edit:
As of now, the FX series is the only chip with where you can raise the multiplier.
you could still pick up an old K7 and do a l2 bridge mod :D granted they're not in production anymore

yes, and an old K7 would overclocked would put out ALOT more heat, not to mention the performance still wouldn't be as good... and its 32-bit.
