Increasing quality on capture card output to TV?

Is there any way to improve the quality from the output of my capture card to my TV? I use the regular composite from the capture card, to the TV, and it looks horrific. The text is barely readable and I feel like I am drunk looking at how blurry it is. Then trying to play on the computer screen, it looks good, but lags horribly and plus the block of picture is tiny.
 
i dont know i am using just a VGA cord from the lounge room computer to our 50'' plasma an the t.v looks great an ours was onle a $30 card but the HD channels lag a lot
 
Why not run the image directly from the graphics card to the TV? The capture card is probably screwing things up. Try running the image through the DVI output on your graphics card and see if things clear up.
