Inexpensive computer build

Though it goes against everything that I stand for, I am choosing AMD (will be able to upgrade to intel later). Looking to run some non graphics intensive older FPS games on it (the highest one calls for a 2.0GHZ P4 and Raedon 9700, so anything will be fine enough).

I have a 500 watt PSU (only 2 sata ports, and 1 PCI-e port).

looking for suggestions on the case, and Ram. I have a HDD on the way, So... thats solved.
 
I am more concerned with getting it together right now than OC'ing. The main reason that i chose the black edition is because it was the cheapest dual core (openbox).

I actually am looking for more of the Office base look. Generally beige in colour and looks of a block of icecream. (im not good with descriptions)
 
Well, im not from US so im not sure on good cheap brands over there but this seems good. (I know its not beige but it seems like a decent case at a decent price)

i have that same cpu it oc really nice i could get mine up to 3.1ghz but my air flow isnt to good. and one voltage bump, so if you get that cpu let me know cuz i have an asrock mobo and that cpu which i have all my ocing info saved so you can try it. but i am getting a triple core tomorrow along with the ram so ill let you know how the ram is tomorrow.

edit: pm me when you start to overclock that cpu
 
did you overclock by bumping the multiplier or by messing with the FSB?? At most I may get it to 3GHZ.

As for ram, I am thinking that I can get some cheaper on craigslist or maybe on here. I am not in a big hurry for this to be up. Just kinda want to get my lappy's screen back in, and need one that can run high speed internet to see the wireing manual to get it in.. I'm probably going to get the Ram and HDD this month and maybe a case. and get the mobo/cpu next month (march), and a graphics card the month after (the on board should be fine for the mean time.) See the reason that I need to break this down is because I am only getting 8.15/hr for a 35 hour workweek. Got insurance and rent to pay out of that not to mention gas for a 5-8MPG Big Block ford pickup. so im lucky to have 100 left over at the end of it all.
 
Do you already have DDR2 RAM? If not, get motherboard use DDR3 RAM instead.

Why you getting 7850?? Athlon IIx 2 is better!!

This I know. I dont like AMD, but the price of newer Intels (even 775) are about double that of amd. if i can get it up and running, i can save and buy a 1155 board and CPU.
 
Update to plan, critque as you see.

Antec 300 Case.
Nice clean looking case. May be interested in others if they offer better cooling and WM (Wire Management). Also not set on black. Id love to find one that is black and Silver, if not, one thats pretty solid, and Ill paint it my colours.

CPU, What else the 955 Phenom II. Liking the Idea of 4 GHZ to power through everything at once. Ill fetch a link tonight when I get home.

Ram is Gskill DDR3 1333, nothing fancy and just a little overkill. I know this, but i want to be sure that If i want to have every program I have installed, that I will have enough to do just that. (sometimes I have like 30 docs and files open at a time looking for something, so I know if its on screen, its not in that file/folder)

GPU: HD4830. I know it is out dated. but its cheap, can be upgraded and will run everything I plan to do now without any issue (im using HD4200 at 1920*1080 to play my games around 20FPS, so this will be fine.)
minor question. Could I run 2 video cards w/o using CF? Have one to run my HDTV with whatever game, movie, facebook, or whatnot and one to run the LCD monitor running apps to monitor temps, Mem usage and such?

I have Windows 7 already, and a 550 watt PSU. May need to get a new one though as its a 4pin CPU power. What do you suggest, hopefully modular.
