hello to all,
basically its really that simple. i'm looking for a sub $1000 dollar laptop that has really good battery life. also any suggestions to really lengthen batt life would be appreciated. is linux alot better than using visa? built in wireless would be really nice also. something really cheap, no frills, simple, good for writing essays, listening to music, surfing the internet, is about it. idk which processors are suppose to be better for battery life or anything. thanks in advance for yalls recommendations.

The intel core 2 duo are nice and amd of course. Check out newegg .com for laptops, they have some good deals, and most all laptops will have the features you want, like built in wifi.

you want battery life. go with integrated graphics. with a 4200rpm drive and set the power feature to run on battery. dim the screen :)

yeah true. i still gotta see an everex laptop. if its too cheap looking then i might look at an acer or elsewhere. they have them at walmart so imma go check it out tonight perhaps. i just dont think id notice much performance lost being i need it for the bare basics of computing. no games or anything really. thanks for the response though. imma keep an open mind about those acers. 2.6 batt life isnt bad i guess. but if plus 4 isn't bs for that everex then i might have to go with that one.

Can someone help me decide too? I want something to play Madden on MAX (upcoming Maddens) and mostly having tons of music on it and writing essays.

I'm willing to spend $1000, don't really care much about battery life, as long as it last at least 4 hours from full charge.
