Inexperienced Builder

I am looking to build a new computer. I have basically no experience in this field, but my computer is old and I want to build one. My brother has built them before so I assume he will help me build it, but I am not to sure where to start. My budget is give or take $1400. If someone could help me out in anyway that'd help a lot.

First you need to pick , Which CPU you want to run !!! Intel / AMD ...Then you need to get a combo, Motherboard/cpu ...then a case..then just fill in the gabs..

I5-4670k, gigabyte z87 mobo, corsair 600w or better, pick a nice case, windows 8, dvd burner, 8gb 1600, graphics with whatever's left, a gtx770 maybe

To be honest mate, someone who doesn't know computers wont know how to answer this question and secondly its a really strange way to start a build. ITs much better to ask what they're using it for. Either way for a $1400 build its very hard to justify an AMD based system. If it were budget, then may be. In this case, its really only going to be intel.
