Info on Spyware Scanning

Hi,
I am using Ad-aware software to scan for spyware..

Although I scan my PC daily and everytime I scan my PC with ad-aware, there are bound to have discovery of tracking tools and MRU objects which I need to quarantine or delete.

May I know if this is normal? If yes, may I know why?
If not, any remedy, please.

:)

Ad-Aware breaks detections down into 2 categories: Critical Issues and Privacy Issues.

If you are getting Critical detections everyday, then I would suggest that you are probably going somewhere on the Internet everyday where you are picking these up. So as long as you keep going to the offending site you will continue to pick up infections, and Ad-Aware will continue to find them.

If all you are getting is MRU detections, these are pretty normal, they are entries that programs on your computer make showing the last files they opened, or data they accessed. These shouldn't be listed as Critical, and you can either remove them or let them stay, but they will continue to show up because when you use programs that store MRU information, it gets logged, and Ad-Aware finds it.

So, if your are getting Critical hits everyday, or if you are really concerned about MRU entries, post a HijackThis Log, and someone will analyse it for you.

hi,

It seems that there are critical items being detected whenever I scan my PC using Ad-aware. I have copied the log profile for your advice, please.

Looks like it's tracking cookies, the severity depends on what sites you visit. Try CCleaner and rid yourself of any Internet History including cookies then run Adaware again.
