Hello. i need to know how to uninstall the old intergrate videocard in my PC, in other words, get into my BIOS. Can anyone help me?
i ogt an HP

Chris

Go into your BIOS, there should be a menu, something like on-board devices that you can enter. Once there you can disable or enable on-board video, audio, etc. It may be different on your computer though.

you can disable it from inside windows...
right click my computer -> click properties -> click the tab "hardware" -> click "device manager" -> find the video device (probably under "display adapters") right click it and disable it.
if you want to get into the bios you click "delete" on the keyboard before windows boots up... as in, RIGHT after you turn the comp on, i just press it a bunch of times to make sure lol.

That's true for most but it's occassionally a different key. ex.F1-12 possibly

ok...thats what i willl do...i jsut wanted to know if the big name i put up there was what i was suppose to delete....

k...it worked, i now have the new video card in, and of course the screen works. I instaled their program thing. Now, is their a way that i can tell if it really put the perfomanc eup? (like check in some properties or something)

You can benchmark the difference in performance with something like 3dMark05, but to work out the difference you'll have to run a graphically intensive application such as that once for each setup. Then analyse the difference.

Yes a 5500 would perform better than your integrated card

i have problems installing it!!!
Last night, worked fine....but this morning

After windowns open , you see the desktop, and then messenger opens, and all that, then then screen goes blanl black.!

Any idea?

Chris

Make sure everything is connected correctly and firmly. It's also possible, but not likely, that the video card died.

why did you buy a 5500? lol the 5700 is thought to be one of the lesser cards on the market so you went a step down? lol no offense...
the screen went black? lol make sure everything is plugged in correctly, inside the case AND outside the case lol..

He upgraded to an addin card instead of the integrated = upgrade.

Why do you have to bash other peoples hardware as soon as you get the chance? I mean come on.. Its not like your own machine is something uber special.

well, in Canada, i have limited use. lol. I had gift card to a certain store (future shop) and that one was pretty much the best one they had. and also, i only have a PCI slot. i did see the 5700 AGP, and it wa the same price  o well, can't always have the best in life.

Now its working, and i love it. i just watch a movie, and it works way better!!! my game also is better. i am really gald f my purchase.

Ya, the 5500 will be a huge step up in performance compared to integrated. Hell, I upgraded my family computer from integrated to a 5200 FX 128mb, and it was like night and day. GTA went from 5 fps at 640x480 to above 20fps at 1024x768.
