Instaling a PATA and a SATA HDD on same system.

Okay, I have a PATA WD800 with all my movies, music, and pictures on it, and a brand new SATA WD3200 with all my games, op. system, and various other stuff on it. My CD drives are PATA to, and I only have one slot, so their hooked to that. I have 4 SATA slots, so I got this for my PATA HDD

But I can't seem to get the WD800 to work. I'm starting to think it's a jumper problem. If I want the WD800 to be a slave were should i put the jumper on the HDD, and on the adapter, and which SATA slot should I plug it into?

Thanks in advance, Derrick.

no, i have two cd drives, both of them are pata, and they are taking up the only pata slot i have, so the wd800 is pluged into an sata slot through an adapter, but it still doesn't work.

So this hard drive has everything on it and you are moving it between motherboards? What exactly do you mean by you can't get it to work, it's not recognized or windows wont boot?

yeah, windows wont recognize it when I plug it in an sata port, only if i plug in a pata, but I can't keep it like that, because both my cd drives are PATA, and i don't have room for a third pata device

Then kof has it, you need to supply sata drivers when you are installing windows. You should be able to download them from your motherboard manufacturer's website then you have to put them on a floppy disk and press F6 at the beginning of the install process.
