install a different xp from the original ???

good evening my dell dimension 2300 ,8 years old is corrupted ,slow and erratic , I lost the original CD.
I saw online (reputable companies )they sell new XP pro sp2 CD with a product key for $80 , can I install it in my computer and is it worth it ?

I'm afraid my old DELL isn't up to that technology , weak processor , 640 ram etc.....
so can I still install the new windows XP ?

i think u can run it. i had windows 7 on my laptop. its was 1.5ghz single core, 512mb ram, and 40gb hdd. it ran just fine.

Yeah. It'll work no problem. But if you know anyone that has an XP (Home is what I imagine you have) you can use any OEM XP Home CD to re-install windows.

Well if the OS has been installed on for 8 years, a fresh install would probably make it run alot better. But it will still run like a 8 year old computer/hardware wise.
