Install new ram before or after OS installation on new hard disk?

Okay so now I am intending to change the hard disk drive of my laptop (from 40GB to 120GB) and upgrade the ram (from 128MB to 512MB). But before I do that of course I am sure that I have to reinstall my OS and everything programs over again since the entire hard disk has changed.

Now there is a confusing question. As most people would usually just upgrade the ram of their laptop while leaving the hard disk untouched, the new ram is installed onto the hard disk that already has OS and programs installed in it. And no data were affected by the new ram.

So my question is, should I upgrade the ram only after I have installed OS and programs onto the new hard disk or should I upgrade the ram and changed the hard disk then lastly install the OS and programs on it?

Which is the best choice? Will installing the ram work better before the installation of OS and programs or after?

RAM is installed onto the motherboard, not the hard drive. It should not matter if you install it before or after. But I prefer before for no reason . Adding RAM does not affect the Hard drive except speeding up loading and decrease lags in games, as with running more programs with no lags:cool:
