seriously? i didnt think apple was that into the proprietary crap..thats something windows hasnt even pulled.
They are ovepriced i agree with you on that one, But their Operating system and their products are really good,especialy their macbooks.
The EULA clearly states that you aren't allowed to install OSX on non-Apple hardware.
Not that it bothers some people though
,I do hope one day apple realises how much money they're actually loosing to people who install osx on non apple hardware and think....ohh we could make a version available for non apple machine but at a higher price.
I'm sure people would buy it, I would.

The Iphone is amazing seriusly,but the way they have done the pricing again sucks big time, It's like £350 for the phone itself here and then £30 a month on top of that
....forget that apple.

Depends on what you want to mean by overpriced, as you do get some things a pc cant get you.(Eg- OS)
They dont overheat too easily... they use pretty much the same components as a pc. Plus read below, they are not as "overpriced" as one would first believe(I used to think the same way about apple).
Apple would sell alot less hardware if this were the case, and thats where alot of their money comes from. Plus i wouldnt consider apple to be overpriced, they are expensive, but you do get what you pay for in terms of quality, features(Solid aluminum enclosure for a notebook? Besides, the OS is tailored to specific sets of hardware, so even if you did install it, chances are many, many things would not work, including display drivers, ethernet ports, etc.

Yes you can buy it with out a data plan that was only in the beginning because data rates with out a data plan are ungodly expensive, so they wanted all their customers to have a data plan, especially since the ITMS uses the internet to install apps on your phone. In fact you would be retarded to not use the data plan with your iPhone.
For a company that shot up to nearly a 10% market share in the last 6 years I would say they are doing something right to sell their machines.
They also aren't over priced, it is just a different business model.

Its only 1.86ghz C2D,2gb of ram,160gb hard drive
for that price i would expect a whole lot more, You could pick up a £500 laptop and if you do your research properly you could turn that into a fully functional osx running laptop, Illegal yes but if it's going to save people hundreds of pounds/dollars it's well worth it and they dont care.
Some people even go out and buy OSX and install it on a non Mac system.
The only thing Apple seems to sell at a decent price is their operating system leopard,£75 will get you a copy which i think is a fantastic price for such a great OS but they tied it down so much with all their legal crap.

Take the Pepsi challenge then and go build one, spec for spec and see how much the price difference is, or try to find a PC company that makes one.
You realize the Macbook Air is in it's own category right? Try to find that slim of a PC notebook for cheaper, with all the same features.
It is a different business model, you are paying for a different product.
Don't worry I am not trying to argue either just point out the ignorance most people have about what a Macintosh computer really is. When people flat out say it is more expensive, I highly doubt they have ever looked into it, or looked into similar products.
Look at their higher end Mac desktop the Mac Pro. Try to find a dual xeon workstation desktop from IBM or Dell that is cheaper, with the same exact specs. You can't.
Granted, Apple may put features into their Macs that you don't like or think you may not need, but in reality you probably wouldn't know their value until you actually tried to use or take advantage of those features.
