install win help

I am going to do a full re install of win xp pro and I am going to backup everything like Photo Graphics and Music and all my work to my Inturnale second Hard Drive.

I know I can keep my secondary hard drive connected and just make sure I install win xp on the right drive.

But after it is installed when I go into my computer and try to go into the secondary drive will it open or ask me to reformat it?

It sould just let me acsess it
 
You would be better off disconnecting the drive until after you install windows and then reconnect it. The computer should automatically recognize it and assign it a drive letter when you boot into windows.
 
You should be able to access it unless something happens to the drive between now and then.
