Hey, i bought a full legal retail copy of win95 off of ebay and it is stil sealed in the wrapping. I got it out, shoved it in my old PC (currently win98) and it didnt do much, it didnt boot off of it like i had thought it woudl. And there were no executable files on the CD, only ones to install AOL crap

Firstly, I'm rather unsure if you can GO DOWN, from Window 98 to Window 95, however, I'm quite open to get enlighten ;)

In the mean time, try going to your BIOS set-up, often by pressing F8 or F11, however, check the key it shows as soon as the PC boots off & change the boot option to CD-ROM i.e. first boot from CD-ROM, since the default must've been FLOPPY DISK.

Lastly, if you can ONLY see AOL within the content of CD, then ask the seller about perhaps sending wrong CD. Check his ratings on E-bay & whether he ever sold something like this before, to give you an idea of whether it could be merely a mistake OR is he genuinely a con. If later is the possibility, then contact e-bay stating you've been conned by him & leave a negative feedback for him, AFTER, warning him first.

whats the capacity of the disk when its in the drive.
ive never had to install 95, i'm guessing that win95 uses a different method of installation rather than exe's but its only a long shot

are you sure that it is a bootable version of win 95.

Back in the days of 95 reinstalling was a pain, finding a boot floppy with cd drives. editing autobat and config.sys on the hdd before installing (to provide cd support for the second pass of the installation)... real nightmare.

Have a look for tutorials online there will be some. I know it a cop out

Make a DOS boot disk, then boot from the floppy, go to the CD drive, and type in "setup".
