Install Windows XP on an SATA harddisk

Hello,

I want to install Windows XP on an SATA harddisk because my IDE harddisk is too slow. But there is a problem..... Windows XP can't see an SATA hardisk when you try to install. Do you know how i can install Windows XP on my SATA harddisk??? My Windows XP is an version without service packs. I've heard Windows XP SP2 support SATA harddisks. Is that right?? Can i install windows XP without service packs on my SATA harddisk??

You need to enable the sata port, and then load the RAID (trust me) drivers...

Plop in the winxp cd, and then it says press f6 to load raid drivers. Plop in the A: disk and load the drivers which came with the Sata HD. After this it will see it.

But where can i find my RAID drivers??. when i buy my SATA there was no floppy with drivers. my SATA disk is an Maxtor Diamondmax 80GB.
 
It is the cd which came with your motherboard. If you purchased your computer, it came in the little folder of junk stuff. Do you have it?
 
all right. When i purchased my motherboard i got a cd with drivers, that's the MOBO CD??? From ASUS?? thanks for your reply.

yes the cd that came with the motherboard is the motherboard cd. Look on the cd for sata drivers.
