hi guys,

ive got an asus eee 9 series the 20gb Solid state HDD with 1gb ram and i cant seem to install windows xp on it, it boots the cd up showing then the blue screen appears with the taskbar at the bottom showing the files being installed and for some reason the blue screen of death shows up

i was wondering because windows xp dosent support Solid state drives thast why it cant install on it

btw im using the 2002 windows xp cd with no sp on it so maybe thats why???

no u can use solid state with xp, my boss has solid state on xp... i know nothing about netbooks tho but after googling it should work, a netbook is a striped down laptop I believe. have you tried an alternative xp disk?

You need to slipstream sp2 or sp3 into a new install cd. It also may be that it needs the sata controller driver at the start of the installation.

mmm got a problem now its not a SATA HDD its an IDE one as it says it in the bios also i tried my mates copy of windows xp sp3 and it still shows the blue screen, so any help please?

UPDATE

i managed to do it, i updated my BIOS to the latest one and it now lets me install windows xp instead of coming up with the blue screen saying a hardware error occured!!!

mmm now when it restarts to finish the installation it says ntldr missing or something like that, whats wrong, duff copy?!

EDIT, i managed to find another copy of xp and its installs peice of cake
