install w'xp having COA

Hi,
I have sony desktop PCV-RS620G with xp'home COA sticker. I don't have recovery disk and I need to reinstall os becuase of viruses.

Can I use any retail windows cd and use key from COA to get it legal ?
I don't want to buy sony cds with all their software.

Will appreciate your help

Yes, that will work. You will need to download all the original drivers and software from Sony's website.

I have just old w'xp with sp1 but it should work ok too, I hope, I'll install sp2 later, and maybe live without sp3.

You can always install Windows Updates later on. I know with Dell's you don't even need to enter the key, the motherboard is proprietary and it works with Windows to activate automatically.
