I want to install Windows 8.1 or higher on HP Compaq DC7700 having P4 processor 2.8 GHz (prescott) on Socket 775 LGA. It supports MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3 as shown by CPU-Z. 2GB DDR2 RAM is installed. Please help.
I don't think it would. According to https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006105/processors.html it won't work.10 would work, but it will more than likely be slow and choppy.
That is almost 4 years old. At the beginning they were gonna allow it but that changed last year I think. Only newer hardware can run 10.https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...entium-4/a31d37fe-b7e6-493d-9c6c-f2e57f9b62b7
Oh. I was going by this.
Ah. I see. Thanks. Also thanks for correcting me, @Cromewell.That is almost 4 years old. At the beginning they were gonna allow it but that changed last year I think. Only newer hardware can run 10.
There's still conflicting info out there about it. I'm sure someone somehow managed it. Probably something goofy like running esxi with a single vm. A big thing is manufacturers aren't going to build drivers for somewhat ancient consumer parts for W10.Ah. I see. Thanks. Also thanks for correcting me, @Cromewell.
