Installed Extra 1GB of RAM, Vista still only sees 2GB

I installed my extra RAM. Vista is showing me 2gb, CPU-Z shows me 3gb.
is there a way to get windows to recognise my 3gb?

EDIT: i have a 2GB stick in the first slot, and the 1GB sitck in the second slot.
