Installing a driver

I recently built my first desktop computer and everything was a success. Everything turned on and I was very happy when it did. I tried running some games though (assuming my graphics card would just automatically work) and obviously they didn't work. One of the games I tried to run was Minecraft, and it said that it couldn't detect a driver. So I search the box in which my gpu came in and I found a disk. I popped it in and clicked on "driver" and then it installed something and reset the computer. When it turned back on, it was the same. I have no idea what I'm doing; is there a certain program I need to run before it works? Thank you for your patients with technologically impaired ducks such as myself. :)

The drivers on the CDs are usually very outdated. Best to download the most recent ones from the Nvidia or AMD website. What exact card do you have? Are you running windows 7 64-bit?
