Installing a SSD !!

When I install my new SSD do I need a controller or can I plug it right into my motherboard's sata port?This is my first SSD.

If your mb has sata 6.0, use that. If not 3.0.

All right. If i made a mistake. now im confused but i did think it was internal.
Im curious now about the external and how. I only have external usb 2.
could ya clear it up if i misunderstood and i will go back and read it again.

My motherboard is 1 Esata only. (internal) and others sata ports.

Some boards come with eSATA port/s on the I/O panel. Some come with these to plug into a eSATA port on the board. Or you can just plug them into a standard sata port. Some board call afew SATA ports on the board as eSATA, usually they are run off a separate controller chip on the board.
