well i just got one of these and have no idea how to install it.

i know ill have to take my motherboard out and attach the backplate. but after that what do i do with the clips?

haha can someone please explain to me how exactly i do this? the instructions were too hard to follow.

thanks :)

yeah i had the components the wrong way round haha. as in i thought that clip thing was for intel and the other was for amd

On the AMD board here there wasn't any need to use the back plate. It seems a little awkward the first time around. Once you get it on correctly with the right amount of paste you'll like seeing the low temps.

yeah amd doesnt have the backplate.

the TP that comes with it is really runny... and on the sites ive read it says to cover the cpu entirely... haha

should i just put the normal amount in the normal way?
seems better

Did you get the NT or LED version kuz?

Some advice would to be patient when installing those two screws they are really annoying outside or inside the case. Being patient means you don't get angry and cut yourself on the metal. It's real sharp.

i got the LED version... my god i hate lights hahhhah

i unplugged the power button led for this reason :D

wait... so how much of this do i do outside the case? hahha

are you saying mount in completely before i put it in?

ok.. well ill try it tomorrow if my motherboard comes. and it better. i cant wait any longer to use this haha.

its like buying an ipod and having to wait a few days to even test it out :D

would it fit on my current matx mobo?

Take your time when going to put the board back if you end up removing it completely. This is one reason why some seem to go for the Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro model over the Zalman for Intel models. But I'm glad it's on the 6000+ X2 here doing the job.

oh do you mean like the old intels? the socket 378 or something? they have clip on heatsinks. is that what its like?

why not just use pins? like the stock coolers?

I'm not 100% sure about the Zalman, but the retail AM2 fans are clip on. I'm assuming the Zalman works the same. PC eye should know. ;)
