installing cpu last?

I get all my computer parts tomorrow except my cpu :(, I have to wait 5-6 more days for that to arrive.

I was wondering if there are any downsides to installing the cpu last? I'd like to get all my parts tomorrow and put everything together, should I wait?

let me think what order i do it...

mobo-harddrive-cd-drive-cpu-ram-gfxcard-psu

not sure what is best tho. i wouldnt think it really matters..

in most instructions I see it early on (just seems logical to me) didn't kno if there was a real reason why it was done so early on or not.

I'd think you'd put the PSU in first so you don't damage any other components.

My order is:
Case Prep
PSU
Mobo
Mobo Wiring
CPU & Heatsink
GFX Card
Optical Drives
Anything Else

You can put it together anyway you want, doesnt matter. The only thing its easier to install the CPU heatsink and fan with the board out of the case.

Yeah doesn't matter what order, but myself personally I would prefer to get the PSU first then mobo etc etc

Yeah, that's always the first part I install. It's too bulky in most cases to risk putting in afterwards, IMO. To each their own though.

My order is: Case Fans, PSU, (CPU, HSF) Mobo, HDDs, cable management, GPU

I would install the CPU and Heatsink before you install the motherboard. This is sometimes important if the heatsink is using a backplate and requires you to take out the motherboard to install it. I would also install the psu last because even if you have a modular psu the cables can be annoying when trying to fit the motherboard in. my order is this:

1. hard drive and optical drive
2. install everything on motherboard (including cpu RAM and cards) and prep case.
3. add motherboard and tighten screws
4. add psu and wire everything
