installing gts250 and psu

is there anything i need to know about installin this stuff? im just gonna unplug the comp, remove old psu, install new one then plug in and power up. then after the psu works install the gpu. right?

If you want to make sure the PSU works, use a paperclip to short it out by hooking it into the green wire and a black wire.
But I'd plug them both in, doesn't matter which goes first, then fire it up. But make sure you have the power connectors plugged into the 250 or your computer will get mad at you.

Why in the world would you tell someone to do this?

Just plug the dam thing in and see if it works. Don't
go shoving a paperclip into the plugs and turning it on, ffs.

ya i dont feel comfortable doing the paper clip trick. im not sayin it doesnt work im just not comfortable doing it. i also got the newest drivers for it off the nvidia site for after i get it workin

Just do it how you said. After you unplug it, hit the power button a few times to discharge the old Power Supply. When you put the new one in just make sure everything is plugged in right. Go ahead and install the Power Supply and card at the same time, no point in having to pop it open twice.

Dont do the paper clip thing. If you have a supply that you think is (bad) you can use that trick to see if it fires up, but it still doesnt put a load on it to know how it works under strain.
