installing heatsink

I'm in the process of building my own computer for the first time, and I've got a question about installing the heat sink. Its an am2 socket with the metal clips on either side, and it seems like its going to require a good amount of pressure to get the second clip in place. I'm worried about putting too much pressure on it. Is it normal for the clip to require a little effort to snap in?

most of them do require some, you shouldnt be able to break anything, if you do think it will bend too much, put something unde it(not metal)an push, that way it wont bend too much

If you have the locking lever turned the right way the clamps should not be hard to slip in place. then you use the locking lever to tighted it down. If the lever is turned the wrong way it makes it hard to get the clamps to slip on.
