installing my cpu help

so im starting my build and have installed the motherboard into the case and im moving onto the cpu, ive unlocked and unhinged the the "catch" ill call it for now. i removed the socket guard and placed the cpu into place matching the edge grooves with the matching outcrops from the motherboard and it looks to be sitting fine. i lay down the catch and then start to move the bar down to lock it into place and it gets almost halfway and gets tough to push. it is also making a noise sounding kinda like pulling velcro apart, which is in my mind, something breaking. is it supposed to be hard to lock down or is there something im missing?

look up installing your cpu on google and see what pics you can find to ensure you are going in correct if you are concerned. if you are confident that its in correct then make sure its in all the way nice and flat before latching. it will be kinda hard and tight to latch it thats normal

ive got it nice and flat and installed correctly i found out because the processor booklet shows installing it into the same exact socket and locking device that my motherboard has, which was nice. i was nervous about making an expensive mistake but i figured its that tough just to make a really solid connection.
Thanks guys!
