Hi,
I have just been given a task by a friend, he wants me to put an OS (Vista or XP) onto his laptop that he has formatted the HDD of.
I have imaged a Vista OS onto a disc and set the laptop to boot from CD rom.

I get past the select coutry screen and then accept license terms.
When asked where to install windows I select Disk 0 Partition 1 with a total size of 97.7GB.
I then get the box warning me of previous versions of windows being moved to folder Windows.old ( I ok that)
Installing windows begins.
files copy and I get a green tick
when expanding files I get to 17% and then up pops the following message!
Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0x8007045D

Am I just being a muppet, or have I issues here?

If this is a vista image from a different computer, theres your problem. You need to use an actual microsoft operating system install cd/dvd.
