Installing Sata

hello would anyone know the many ways of installing a SATA drive, because i was told there was a way for it to run faster. if it was installed that way.

thx if you guys got any remarks or opinions that will help me solve this problem

Well first off, does your computer support SATA? If not, you'd need a new controller card. There are some plain SATA PCI cards, but all the SATAII cards I can find are either PCI-express or PCI 64 bit...

Now then, will you even notice a difference? Probably not much, if any. The fastest plain PATA drives are 133Mbps. Most SATA drives are 150Mbps, with SATAII supporting 300Mbps. However, the thing I've been trying to tell people...harddrives are SLOW! Probably the fastest drive around, the Raptor 150G, is still only SATA.

OK, so I've rambled enough... If you want to see a difference, probably about the only drives that would make a difference would be the Western Digital Raptors. But really, I don't see why they are only offered as SATA as they probably would run under PATA speeds just as well :P

well we have the motherboards with the capability and i have the motherboard drivers, but my dad's co-worker keeps on telling my dad that there is way to install it that'll make it run faster than usual. we even have that raptor drive my dad still thinks its slow. so he tells me to find the different ways of installing a SATA and which one makes it faster to load -_- sorry for this guys, but my dad is stubborn. but if there is a way thx

Different ways of installing SATA? I have no clue what he means, unless he means like using RAID(which can be done with PATA drives...)

Using a Raptor drive should be faster, but not too much. When I had a RAID using two Raptor drives, I got 216Mbps(so 108Mbps per drive) That's not even ATA133 speeds! But that's probably faster than most any other PATA drive you could find...

i see i see yeah, i dont get it either i think my dad's co-worker just messing with him, because when is searched up installing SATA drives such as the raptor i could'nt find any other way of installing and added to that the difference should fairly little thx i'll just tell him
