Hey Everyone,
Just a quick question about installing my SSD before I go about an do it. It's a Samsung 850 EVO
I plan to only use a 250GB SSD at the moment for the main desktop, but I wanted to go through my thought process on how to install it. I have quite a few questions that are all vaguely answered through online forums.
My plan is to unhook my current HD and plug the same cables into my SSD. Boot the computer and put in the software disc that came with the SSD. Run it (assuming there is software I need on it), reboot, insert and install Windows 8 64bit via DVD.
Is there anything special I'll need to do, or should it really be this straight forward?
I noticed that the SSD didn't come with a SATA to USB cable for their data migration software, do I really need use that software prior to taking my above steps? Or is that primarily to swap old HD contents over to the new SSD? I've read some posts saying that the SSD will function like crap if I don't use this migration software...
I used to be tech savvy, but I haven't had as much time to keep up with all the changes.
I'm basically trying to use the SSD as my primary HD and want to run into as few issues possible prior to starting this to prevent frustration.
Thanks,
Alex
