hi all,
Recently I bought compaq presario v300 with Vista OS. Now I facing some problems. I want to install auto cad 2007, PQ magic 8 and some other softwares, but Vista don't accept to install those softwares. These softwares are essential in my work. So now I want to go back to Win Xp(XP got no problem with those software). Now I have 3 partitions on HDD. I want to install win xp on one partition. But Notebook manufacturer's software block my installation. If somebody knows how to solve this problem without formatting harddisk including win Vista, pls give some advices to me.

rgds,

Partition Magic can (I think) split and make 2 partitions. Then just pop da XP disk in, install on that partition, and your done.

use gparted to use some of the vista partition to make a new partition and then install xp on it. afterwards you will only be able to boot to xp so you would need to pop in the vista disc and do a repair then you will only have access to vista only :D thats when you install the bcdedit gui and add xp back to the vista bootloader and you're done.

you can install xp then vista or vista then xp doesnt matter so you would not need to remove the vista already there.

Not exactly, if you just do that then you will only be able to boot to XP.

That will work, but if you reformat, install XP, then vista on a separate partition the Vista boot loader will recognize XP on it's own. If all his files are backed up, he may be better offer with two clean installs.
