Installing Windows on a big HD

I'm getting a new hard drive, probably a 200 GB, and will be installing Windows on it. I'm aware that Windows (without service packs) only supports 137 GB though, for some reason. So, if I install, then install service packs, will the full size be used, or do I have to do stuff I don't know much about?

What I did when I installed it on my 200GB HDD, was go to:

Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - (On the left panel) Disk Management.

Then, in the bottom panel, you should be able to see an unused block of memory (it will be around 60GB). Just right click it, select format. Make sure you choose NTFS as the filesystem.

:)

You could also enable 48bit support and then you would have to reformat, and it should show up under one partition.

Are you planning on installing windows service packs or not?? I have windows installed on a 300gb HDD and it all shows up on one partition for me. I have windows MCE 2002 with all of the service packs and whatnot.

I'm planning to do that, yes, since it would allow me to use my whole new HD. :P I'll solve it when I get it though, somehow.. hopefully..

when you have installed windows install the service pack then go to my computer and right click it select manage then on the left select disk managemant you will see 2 block one will say healthy (system) scroll down and you will see the rest of your hdd as unallocated right click it and select format when done this will show up as a partition under my computer then you will be able to use it
