I just bought a new build along with a copy of windows 7 home premium. The os is the OEM system builders pack version. I turned the pc on and put the cd into the drive. When I turn my monitor on it displays "no signal". Bare in mind I know next to nothing about computers so please be patient and let me know what you need to know about my computer. Thank you in advance!!!!

What video card do you have? or are you using onboard video? If you are using a dedicated card, does it require a 6 pin power connection?

The video card is a evga gtx570 HD SC 1280mb pci-e 2x dvi, hdmi.
I am connecting my monitor to the cards dvi slot with a vga to vga cable using a dvi-i adapter for the cable

That card requires either 1 or 2 6pin power cables from the power supply before the video will work. Do you have them connected?

Sorry, IM not exactly sure what you mean. If what you are referring to is the connection between the onboard power supply (netzteil silverstone strider 600w) and the video card how do I check this?

See those 2 6pin connections on the bottom left? You need to have 2 power connections for that card in order for the video to work. The power supply you have, has 4 of those 6 pin connections.

I don't drink beer, I'm a mixed drink person. Kinda figured that was your problem. Now go enjoy your new computer. :good:

It would help if they still did it like older cards when the PCIe connector first started being used. When you boot if you didnt put the power connector in a boot screen would pop up telling you to. Cant remember what it said now, something like power connection doesnt have input or video card is underpowered.
