installing xp

hi i have an acer aspire 5315 and it came with vista basic i changed it to vista premium and have decided to downgrade to xp as i prefer it. soo i used dban to wipe the hd and once this was completed i inserted my xp disk turned it on it says insert boot disk and press any key so i press a key and nothing the same thing happens what will i need to do to make it install properly as im pooped
please help

You need to change the boot order in the bios to boot from cdrom first. Also you should check to see if there is a sata controller setting and set it to IDE or compatibility mode so that xp can see the hard drive. If there is no setting you might have to slipstream the sata controller driver into a new install cd.

i have changed the SATA controller setting to IDE and the boot order to CDROM first with to no avail it still comes up with the same thing. how do i go about slipstreaming the SATA controller driver and what exactly will this doo

Then its possible that the cd you are using isn't bootable or the cd drive is bad. You have to get the cd to boot first. Slipstreaming won't help that.
