The above is before I powered anything up though...u.k.man said:I don't think so cos I touched a little bit of the grey thing myself and everything is ok...
also when installing the heatsink and fan to my cpu I had a problem with the clip so I had temporarily taken the heatsink/fan off and then replaced it and same again everything is fine.

1. TOUCH ANY SURFACE BETWEEN THE HEATSINK AND CPU
^this will stop heat movement by contaminating the thermal compound
2. take the heatsink off after it has contacted, it will contaminate the thermal compound on the heatsink (new air is introduced, its complicated)
I touched a little bit of the grey thing myself and everything is ok...

So, what will happen fade2green514?
Will the CPU fry? Or the PC won't work fall stop?
Or what? thanks.... as mine is alright at the mo
PS If any of the above would happen, how long would it take for the PC to fail/burn out,fry CPU or whatever?

it'll work don't worry, though i would suggest you put some thermal paste on it, as it's alot better than the stock thermal pads they supply.
Naah, it won't matter as long as you don't OC. CPUs really don't even need thermal paste, it is just a really really good idea.u.k.man said:I touched a little bit of the grey thing myself and everything is ok...
