yes, the retail heatsink does have a thermal pad, although its usually best to put proper thermal grease on it instead. Its not hard at all to install, most
reatil packages come with instructions, so does your motherboard. If you need extra help then post back and ask

well, im not too familiar with AMD sockets, im an intel man myself, but basic principals apply, do NOT push down on the processor at all, they are manufactured to minute accuracy, it will simply drop in place when it is positioned correctly, there should be no reason you would have to press down on the CPU, check for bent pins, one or two bent pins can sometimes be straightened out but any more than 10 and i would send it back.
Once its dropped into place, yes, secure it, if you have a lever then put it back down, im not too sure what AMD sockets have.

just dont:
1. TOUCH ANY SURFACE BETWEEN THE HEATSINK AND CPU
^this will stop heat movement by contaminating the thermal compound
2. take the heatsink off after it has contacted, it will contaminate the thermal compound on the heatsink (new air is introduced, its complicated)
if you are overclocking then you probably don't want to use the stock cooler, it won't be good enough depending on how much you want to overclock, and if you're overvolting it at all.
however, if you aren't overclocking then disregard that last statement.

I don't think so cos I touched a little bit of the grey thing myself and everything is ok...
also when installing the heatsink and fan to my cpu I had a problem with the clip so I had temporarily taken the heatsink/fan off and then replaced it and same again everything is fine.
