Integrated vs GeForce 2 MX400

Right now I have a prebuilt HP with integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics. A few years ago I bought a PCI Xtasy nVidia GeForce 2 MX400 graphics card. Is it worth installing this on my new PC or is it not any better than the integrated card?

I think the GeForce 2 MX400 is better than the integrated but I'm not sure with the modern integrated chips. They might have improved a bit atleast.

Is there anyway I can check to see how much RAM the integrated video card uses?

I used to use a GeForce 2 MX400, hell it ran even ran Doom 3 on the lowest settings 800x600 (although I averaged like 12FPS).... man that card was great for its time.

It may be better then integrated, but if the computer is fairly new then the integrated would have newer technologies.

put the card in its better than integrated cause integrated uses your system ram and slows down the rest of your computer.

Will it be able to play any high end games like cod2 or half life 2?

No, Not even close, It "May" Be able o play HL2 on the lowest setting's but I would suggest at least a Mx440(I have one for sale what do you know LOL want to buy it?) I played HL2 with it ebfore i got my new video card, but I would suggest something in the FX series or above, but a MX440 would work for "some" of the high end games and you can find them really cheap.

Also I fyour upgrading to a new card for higher end games you're going to want a mobo with a AGP slot.

For comparison, my laptop that i bought late last year has 128MB of shared video memory, i struggled playing Counter Strike: Condition Zero @ 1024x768. So i highly doubt that your integrated video will be able to play HL2 or CoD2 at acceptable frame rates. The MX440 however may be a different story.

i think that answers your question ;)

mcanavan I also have an HP with xpress200. I did some research and while it is integrated, it has 128MB of dedicated memory. I have an HP laptop and it will run doom3 on ultra low settings at like 10fps. Any less demanding games run fine.
