Intel chipset compatible RAM

Here's the situ, I can have 2 cards with seemingly identical specs (ie DDR SDRAM PC3200 non-ECC unbuffered DIMM 184-pin CAS latency 3) and one will work with Intel chipsets and the other will not.
How can I tell if a card is Intel compatible?

I assume you want to know about Ram modules (memory). What you need to do is check that they are compatible with your motherboard. Has nothing to do with the chipset...

If your comp is rated for DDR pc-3200..then 3200 will work, the only thing you want to check is the total amount of ram you can have..(1GB, 2GB, 4GB...etc)

A most intriguing response. I was thinking the same thing and got all ready to click "Buy It Now" when I noticed in the product description, immediately following the list of compatible chipsets, "not compatible with Intel or Mac chipsets."
My motherboard can accept up to 4GB of PC3200, however since I run 32-bit XP I can really only add 3GB, although it doesn't matter either way because I was planning on adding only 2GB.
Is it really as you say and I'm free to buy whatever (mobo compatible) module I fancy?

I would simply look for the cheapest 2GB kit you can find..

pc-3200 ddr and you will be good to go....I have seen 'AMD only' ram but it was old, old stuff...pc133 or something..

The brand really doesnt matter to much....just look around on newegg, tigerdirect..etc and compare prices.

If it says wierd stuff in the ebay ad...dont buy it..

what was the price?

Do you need 1GB + 1GB or 512's?

Double checked my computer specs, the mobo is a Dell K0057 that can accomodate up to 2GB.

The least expensive I could find a pair of 1GB modules was $40, but the shipping was murder since I live in paradise. I checked on ebay and found a nice pair for $27 delivered. That's where I learned of compatibility issues. The other "compatible" modules cost around $60.
