Intel Co dua with pentium 4 Mother board?

hi foax, as the titel says i have intel p4 computer and want to upgrade to the new intel Conro cpu.. do i need to buy a new mother board for it? if not will it have a sever affect (slowing down etc) if i use the same MB with the new cpu?

It varies. You'll have to find the model of your mobo and search around for that.

Not true, the C2D also works on some 945 and 946 chipsets.

I don't know what all chipsets the C2D will work with, but I have a feeling it will not work with his board. Much like Compaqs, their BIOS didn't support the Athlon X2's. The motherboard was more than capable, but they never released a BIOS update to implement the support. Same probably holds true with the Dell machines. However, I'm not 100% sure

I really should pay attention to technology before saying stuff Last I heard though only the 965 and 975 chipsets would work with the C2D.

well, i knew 945 would work. but yea, you'll need at least a bios update to support core 2 duo.
