Intel Conroe (Core Duo) 6300

well im lookin at doing my first intel build!!
everybody knows of the conroe's performance so there is no choice really a conroe it is.

problem is there a little bit expensive for me, so my aim is to get the lower end one "6300"

i am basicly wondering if this cpu is worth "£115.99"??

and if it is capable of being overclocked to amd athlon fx62 standards(2.8) or even smash through amd best offering?

this is what the seller said-

"First thing about this processor is its overclockability - I managed to overclock one on air to 2.66Ghz or the equivalent of a E6700 processor!! This alone makes the chip a great buy"

is this achievable???
 
From what I have heard these things OC exceptionally well, even for the casual user it only takes an after market CPU heatsink/fan and you are in business.

2.66Ghz would be a fairly easy overclock with that chip, with the right mainboard and memory.
 
im building my first build and it aswell will be conroe, im getting the e6300 coz it can be overclocked easily the the more expensive 1's. Ive heard ppl overclocking theirs to 3ghz. Wen i get mine ill make a lil diary as i try and overclock my cpu. Im a total noob to this o/c aswell so if i can do it any1 can :)
